cPanel Tutorials - Two-Factor Authentication
hi there this is Lawrence Simon a technical writer on the documentation team here at cPanel you're a hosting platform of choice I'm here to show you how to use two-factor authentication in cPanel normally you would log in the cPanel with just your account name and password two-factor authentication requires two forms of identification your username and password and a generated security code an application on your smartphone will supply the security code for you to enter please note that your system administrator must enable two-factor authentication on your server in order for it to be available on your account are you ready well let's go ahead and login here we are in the cPanel home interface you can scroll down to the security group and then click two-factor authentication the two-factor authentication interface will appear click setup two-factor authentication a QR code will appear on your screen it kind of looks like a chess board having a bad hair day at this point you'll need to setup a two-factor authentication application on your smartphone no I said smartphone okay that's better for a list of applications at your version of cPanel supports go to the link I added in the video description I'll use Google Authenticator you can either snap a photo of the QR code with your application or manually enter the account and key the smartphone application will generate a security code let's return to the cPanel interface enter that code into the cPanel interface and click configure two-factor authentication a confirmation message will appear now we're ready to test two-factor authentication let's go ahead and log out of cPanel and we're back to the cPanel login interface enter your username and password and click login the two-factor authentication login interface will appear on your smart phone open your application and generate a security code then enter that number into the login interface and click continue there we're back in the cPanel home interface let's go back to the two-factor authentication interface the interface now displays two options reconfigure two-factor authentication lets you go through the setup process again this is useful if you replace your smartphone or want to use a new authentication application I'll click remove two-factor authentication and I'll confirm that I want to remove it for my account a confirmation message will appear and you no longer need to use two-factor authentication to login to cPanel and there you have it for more information about cPanel the hosting platform of choice go to cpanel comm or follow us on twitter our username there is at sea pen let us know if you found this video helpful leave a comment and please subscribe to our YouTube channel for more helpful videos like this one thank you for watching and enjoy
