WHM Tutorials - Why You Should Use EasyApache 4 hi this is Stacey a technical writer at cPanel the hosting platform of choice today I'll be talking about why you should make the switch to easy apache for easy apache 4 is our replacement for easy apache 3 we've overhauled the product to make it faster more flexible and customizable so why should you use easy Pachi for most importantly we're deprecating easy patch III at the end of 2018 easy Apache 3 will be a blocker for cPanel and WHM version 78 if you want to upgrade to version 78 your server must run easy Pachi for easy Apache 4 provides a much faster and more customizable process than easy Apache 3 because easy Apache 4 provides all of its packages through our PMS you receive frequent updates and we introduce new features regularly installing a new module on your server is as easy as installing the package no rebuild of your whole web stack is required in many cases to install a new package just add it in the interface and provision your profile or you can use yum to do it I will provide a link to our easy Apache 4 interface documentation and yum documentation in the description below ez Apache 4 requires Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4 or higher ez Apache 4 provides almost all of the same modules as ez Apache 3 in addition ez Apache 4 also offers a few modules that you cannot use an easy pachi 3 such as HTTP 2 mod broadly and mod evasive plus an easy patching for you can customize your installation even further because easy pachi 4 uses rpms and YUM you can use your own rpms and modules if we don't provide what you're looking for ez Apache 4 offers PHP versions five point four five point five five point six seven point zero seven point one and seven point two easy Apache three only supports up to PHP version five point six because PHP five point six reaches end of life at the end of 2018 you will no longer receive updates and you risk your system security if you remain on ez Apache 3 one of the most exciting features of ez patchy 4 is the ability to use multiple versions of PHP on one system you can even run your domains on different versions of PHP additionally you can use your own customized versions of PHP if you desire we've made managing your systems PHP versions easy with the multi PHP interface you can easily switch your domains between different versions of PHP with just the click of a button you should be able to upgrade easily without worrying about compatibility issues if your system still runs apache 2.2 will attempt to upgrade your system during the migration process as of cPanel and whm version 76 you can also migrate to easy Apache 4 if you run tommcatt our Tomcat implementation is completely new for more information you can read our Tomcat documentation and for more information about the migration process and the changes it makes read our documentation I'll provide a link to our documentation in the description below with all of that what's stopping you easy Apache 4 is just better and it's the way of the future if you're ready to migrate from easy apache 3 you can do it yourself by navigating to the easy Apache 4 interface in cPanel and whm and the system will start the process if you'd like some help you can contact support and they'll be happy to assist you for more information visit cpanel comm or follow us on twitter at cPanel thanks for watching
