cPanel Tutorials - Bandwidth
hi there this is Lawrence Simon a technical writer on the documentation team at cPanel your hosting platform of choice I'm here to show you how to review bandwidth usage charts for your cPanel account bandwidth is a measurement of how much data has entered or left your site data can be email web sound files images or any other content that visitors consume as well as all the content you upload or send why should you be concerned about bandwidth because if your hosting provider puts a hard limit on the bandwidth that your visitors consume and you reach that limit visitors will no longer be able to see your site or send email to you or for you to send email to them and if your hosting provider puts a soft limit on bandwidth your hosting provider may charge you for that additional traffic or require you to purchase a larger and more expensive package let's go ahead and login to cPanel here we are in the cPanel home interface if you look at the right side of the interface you'll see an information panel bandwidth displays your bandwidth usage for the current month your limit and a bar graph that indicates how much of your limit that you've used this site has a limit of one gigabyte per month if you want to see detailed information about the bandwidth that you've used you can click on bandwidth a new interface will appear at the top of the interface you'll see a note about the time zone that these graphs charts and tables use the interface displays graphs of your accounts bandwidth usage for the past 24 hours the past week and the past year at the bottom of the interface you'll see tables that lists bandwidth usage by protocol for each month HTTP for web traffic FTP for file transfers and IMAP pop3 and SMTP for mail traffic you can click on a protocol to review bandwidth usage of that protocol by day I'll look at the HTTP web traffic a new interface will appear and here's the chart and data for that month let's go back to the bandwidth interface you can click the total bandwidth usage to open a new interface that displays bandwidth usage of all protocols by day to receive warnings via email when you approach or reach your bandwidth usage limit click your username in the top of the interface and then click contact information a new interface will appear confirm that the contact addresses are correct scroll down to the contact preferences section and select the checkbox for my account approaches its bandwidth usage limit then click Save a confirmation message will appear that displays your contact information and preferences I'll include links to the interfaces that I covered in this video in the video's description ok for more information about cpanel the hosting platform of choice go to cpanel comm or follow us on twitter our username there is at cpanel let us know if you found this video helpful leave a comment and please subscribe to our youtube channel for more helpful videos like this one thank you for watching and enjoy [Music]
