From Sandals Montego Bay, With Love Peter Mangus here the final stop on my Jamaica journey and what's sort of serendipity about this is the end of this particular journey is where it all began in 1981 sandals Montego Bay I'm standing here with my dear friend Chris Elliot the general manager we've known each other for a little while great yes that's right one of the best and why don't you take a minute and introduce yourself yes hi folks I'm Christopher Edith I'm the general manager of the flagship sandals Montego Bay as Peter said this is where it all started back in 1981 close to 43 years ago um so it's really an honor for me to to lead this team here um you know we have close to 800 fantastic employees and team members who who provide excellent service for our guest I mean just today we had our VIP lunch and the guest keep on saying that listen the only reason they come back because of the people here 100% 100% so what I really want to talk about is all the exciting things you have going on here at santigo Bay yeah so I think we're going to go see one of the new units that are just coming online absolutely let's go see it all right all right follow us so Chris you talk about new product how Sandos Montego Bay is bringing Sandos 2.0 to life this is a great example of that why don't you tell us a little about what we're heading into here so we're right in front of what we call Cottage 9 it's a group of about six or seven Butler sweets uh located right on the beach front what we've done over the past years is to renovate all of our rooms so you don't we really don't have a bad room at sandal Montega Bay uh most of our rooms are facing the ocean and we're on the best beach uh one of the best beaches in Jamaica and as I said earlier this is the first sandals so over the years we've converted Cottages into sweets so Peter I can't wait to show you let's let's go up come on in Peter oh my God it's beautiful amazing HH oh my gosh spectacular so this was renovated uh about a year ago and um since then we've also done two more of our Cottages but this is the standard um that our guests have now come used become used to at sandles monteo Bay um we've let we've really elevated the accommodation experience uh as I was telling you earlier the bathrooms you don't want to leave the bathroom you know um uh so couple with a great View and a great sweets um or guess a happy but I you know I love the wood the feel it's just so Caribbean peaceful yes it's just great a fresh feel and a clean feel to the whole every aspect of it and and obviously um we head outside to the patio and out over the water yes all right where would you like to go to next um let's head on down to my favorite spot so Chris you talk about food being a core element of the service and and what we provide to our guests it's it's so spectacular where are we right now so we're at one of my this is my favorite restaurant we're at soy and um very very popular uh restaurant for all of our guests the best sushi you're going to get anywhere in the Caribbean my chef chef sat is all the way from Tokyo Japan he's been here for 3 years and it's as authentic as you're going to get the sushi so food awesome Cornerstone of what we do where are we off to next I have you I have a feeling you have a treat for us absolutely I'm this is my favorite restaurant Peter I'm taking to my favorite spot let's go I I love it so Chris here we are we took a little stroll around the property and uh y this is your favorite spot and I can tell why favorite spot latitudes bar it's uh Over The Water Bar the largest one in Jamaica it's not only my favorite spot but it's a lot of our guest favorite spot as well um so one of the reasons why I like it here is because the breeze is always blowing on a hot day um of course you have your drinks available for a guest I come across here and I'm able to touch base with a lot of our guests like we just did as well and uh the Fantage point from this Resort I can see the entire Resort it is from from from east to west and absolutely stunning yeah it's a it's a beautiful spot Peter and uh I'm sure everybody can understand why this would be my favorite spot well what a great way to end the tour you've taken us around the property so uh in closing if you could say one thing to the Sandal select guest Community what would it be well first of all I'd like to thank them because our late chairman said that our returning guests and and our travel train were the ones that have really built this Resort and they keep on coming back year after year and when they walk through the front door and the lobby it's like family meeting family our team members get that warm fuzzy Fe feeling when our returning guests are back they know what is happening on the resorts we want to to encourage you to continue coming down we love you we need you and uh Jamaica is open and ready to embrace you back with us that is fabulous what a wonderful
